Extending Sensor And Valve Shut Off Wires on FloodStop Water Heater Device

by Barbara 27. March 2013 08:33

Question about the Water Heater FloodStop with 3/4" valve FS3/4NPT and extending the length of the sensor and valve shut-off wires.

Q: "I purchased a Water Heater FloodStop with 3/4" valve FS3/4NPT. How far can the controller be located away from the shut off valve? 25 feet? Can I splice the controller to shut off valve wire and add 20 feet? Can I splice the sensor wire and add 30 feet? Thanks for all your help, Jerry"

Answer: Yes, you can extend the length of both wires. The controller can be located at any distance, so 25 feet is no problem. You can do this by splicing in a similar gauge paired wire as you suggested, or you can purchase our Controller to Valve Extension Wire, which is about 8 feet long. If you ordered 4 of them and simply plugged them into each other, you would not have to go buy wire or do any splicing.

You can splice into the sensor wire and extend it by 30 feet no problem. Or you can add Floodstop Individual Water Appliance Additional Water Sensor XS-01 unitsthat each have a 3 foot long wire and interconnect to give you more water sensor coverage. We do not have a controller to sensor extension wire, as the customized length can be so varied that the manufacturer did not create one.

Thank you for your question. Your question was asked of and answered by Mary Joyce and our distributor. I found it and thought it was a great one to share with others. Extending the sensor and valve shut off wires of all the individual FloodStop automatic water sensor and automatic valve shut off devices can be done in a similar fashion.

Sincerely,

Barbara

Hand Held, Manually Activated Dazer and Pet Agree Use Ultrasound to Train or Scare Off Dogs

by Barbara 14. March 2013 08:50

Question about the Dog Dazer and the Pet Agree.

Question: "I have a dog who is usually well-behaved until he sees another dog on our walk. Then the barking begins. Also I have been attacked by dogs when I am jogging. How do these devices work? Are they likely to work for me to train my dog and to scare off the aggressive ones? Thanks. Peter."

Answer: The Dazer and the Pet Agree are identical except for the color. These are sturdy, manually activated ultrasonic units that have a belt clip. Each uses a 9 volt battery that can last for years depending upon the frequency of use.

The best training method is to use a stern voice command like "No Bark" simultanously with the use of either device "shot" directly at the dog. Depending upon how intelligent and how stubborn your dog is, training may be fast or slow to stop dog barking. Rarely does the Dazer or the Pet Agree fail to work for training.

UPS, Fed Ex and USPS delivery persons use carry Dazers to ward off aggressive dog attacks. Aggressive dogs seem to respond more quickly to the ultrasound than non-aggressive ones. Using a strong "No" at the same time helps. We've sold hundreds of these units to delivery people and actually sold many to FEMA employees when Micronesia had a typhoon hit years ago.

The Dazer is gray; the Pet Agree is blue. The manufacturer made two colors with two names because the Japanese saw the word Dazer as a cruel word. Actually, the dog is not "dazed" as with a stun gun, just feels discomfort, not permanent injury, from the ultrasonic tone. These units also work with most cats.

Thanks for your question.

Sincerely,

Barbara

"Gordo" The Fat Cat Slims Down with Ergo Pet Feeder with Timed Kibble Release

by Barbara 1. March 2013 14:24

Question about the effectiveness of Ergo Pet Feeder for Cats and Dogs.

Q: "How can an Ergo Pet Feeder help me slim down my adopted cat? With my former cat, I could leave kibble out all the time in a gravity feeder. This cat will eat until all the kibble is gone.Thanks. Carol.

Answer: Like humans, cats and dogs maintain a healthier weight with several smaller meals each day. My younger son and his family adopted a cat several years ago from the Minneapolis Humane Society. He was literally a fat cat. Their attempts to let him eat using a gravity feeder failed. They named him "Gordo" just like in the old time comic strip. He would eat all that came out.

They purchased an Ergo Pet Feeder and set it to release kibble four times a day, the total being what he needed to reduce his size yet be adequately nourished. Gordo soon learned when the food was about to be dispensed. I understand he still maintains watch for about 10 minutes before the food dispenses. Gordo reduced his weight to a healthy one except for two times. The first happened when he got into the closet with the cat food and ate his way through the bag. The second was during the three weeks he was missing in the spring of 2012. He was returned because he was micro-chipped. For a while, they nicknamed him "El Gato" the thin one as he was really skinny. They also purchased a Medium Ergo pet waterer. That way they can leave Gordo alone over the week-end without worrying about food or water or a cat sitter. They do add an extra litter box as he is particular as most cats are.

Thanks for your question.

Sincerely, Barbara
