Answer: The tone control lets you adjust the tone for the handset. Besides amplifying the ringer up to 90db, the GE 29579GE1 has handset boost up to 40db and exclusive graphic equalizers to customize the amplification for individual hearing loss. The 3.25 inch amber backlit LCD caller id has time/date. Tune the sound the same way you adjust the tuning knob on your radio to bring in a station as clearly as possible. There is a three-band tone graphic equalizer.
