Rodent Control and Small Animal Control Products For Summer or Winter Motorhome Storage

Question about how to reduce rodent damage when storing a motorhome.

Question: "What products do you suggest for safe guarding my motor home against invasions by mice? We store our motorhome in an old barn. Thanks. Steve."

Answer: Steve, we suggest rodent control products for the barn, the motorhome interior and the motorhome engine compartment.

The preferred units operate on AC and send continuous ultrasonic and/or sonic waves that irritate rodents and small animals and discourage them from invading your barn.

  1. In the barn. If you have electricity in the barn, we suggest you install AC powered ultrasonic rodent repellers. One of the most durable are the Bird-X Yard Guard units. Depending upon which products you choose, you can also set the frequencies to keep small animals out of the barn as well.
  2. Inside the motor home. Your choices include traditional mouse traps and battery powered electronic mouse and rat traps. If you have 120VAC in the motor home from the barn electricity, ultrasonic pest repellers can be plugged in and placed under the kitchen sink and around the perimeters of the walking area. We recommend the Transonic Pro . This unit has a steel case, has settings that include those sounds that irritate mice, rats, small animals, insects, etc. We suggest a minimum of two units. Using repellers is much less hassle than emptying traps of decomposing rodents!
  3. Inside the engine compartment. The P3 International Under Hood Rodent Repeller will help to keep the mice out. This unit attaches easily to the inside of your engine compartment. Power is long lasting via batteries, not included.
  4. Underneath the motorhome. If you have power, place two Transonic Pro pest repellers back to back and turn them on the sonic chattering setting which covers the mice as well. If you do not, then the best option would be the YardGuard units, two units either back to back in the center aimed toward the outside or aimed toward each other.

If you have no electricity, the best options are the Underhood Rodent Repeller, the Animal  Away Pro, the Yard Guards on battery power and kill traps that operate on battery power. The investment the first year can be several hundred dollars depending upon your housing situation for your motor home or trailer. Just remember the damage that will be limited or avoided over the years to come.

Thanks for your questions.
